LAB 4: SYMBOLIZATION & CLASSIFICATION

Assignment:

Please complete Chapters 5 and 6 in your Getting to Know ArcGIS 10 books. There will

be no questions for this week’s assignment, but I would like you to play with the

symbolization and classification schemes you address in the lab. Change the symbols

and classification system in each exercise so it’s different than the final product at

the end of each exercise. In other words, instead of exporting the map on your screen at

the end of each exercise, play with the symbols and classifications and export a map that

has your own personal touch. I want you to get a feel for proper symbolization and

classification schemes and customization. We will discuss each of these in class and some

common methods for choosing appropriate symbology.
